It’s Summer time (finally), and the temperature is definitely rising which means beach days are more often on the cards wahoo! In the Summer I live at a private little bay some friends and I stumbled upon a couple of years ago. It’s so sheltered which makes for perfect swimming conditions, although my hair does tend to get itself into a bit of a salty, sandy state.
I try to remember to take my tangleteezer with me on my beach dates, only because having long hair does mean if I don’t sort it out whilst it’s wet, I am left to fight a tangled, frizzy situation that is totally less than ideal. Lucky for you guys, I have a few tips that can help us all out from a professional, who really does know his stuff. I mean this guy won Hair Expo 2015 NZ Hairdresser of the year, so it pretty much goes without saying – Michael Beel everybody !
First up it’s the how to achieve the “perfect” Beach Wave look.
Nothing says summer like beach hair. If you don’t have natural wavy hair, don’t stress as this is the
way to get it.
On damp hair spray a liberal amount of L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.Art Wild Stylers Beach Waves
throughout the hair. Don’t forget to use some heat protection too like L’Oréal Professionnel série
expert Vitamino Color A.Ox 10 in 1 Multi-Tasking Spray.
Tip your head upside down and using your hairdryer on a low to medium heat setting, gently scrunch
in any natural movement and curl to get a more lived-in look.
Once dry, tip your head back up and create a dead centre parting. This is super on trend at the
moment. Using a large barrel curling tong, pick random pieces and curl in different directions but
leave the ends straight as well which will keep it more modern.
Break the curl up a little with your fingers and spray L’Oréal Professionnel Tecni.Art Wild Stylers
Crêpage de Chignon, a great dry texturizing spray, to create a more casual undone elegance. The
more casual this looks, the better – think Alexa Chung and Gisele Bündchen.
If you’re at the beach, the easiest way to achieve this is get your head wet and let it dry in the sun.
When you get home, wash it and give hair a deep moisturising treatment like L’Oréal Professionnel
Vitamino Color A.Ox Fresh Feel Masque to help stop sun damage.
LOOK 2: The Dishevelled Ballet Bun ( now this I personally always fail at, so I am totally taking going to try out Michael’s tips!!)
This look is great from going from the office to an evening summer soirée. Casual, understated and effortless, just what the sunshine gods recommend.Using your hair’s natural texture, take a small section at the crown and gently back comb to create a little lift.
Spray with L’Oréal Professionnel Infinium Hairspray.Pull it all back into a low ponytail at the nape. Gently ease and soften the ponytail a little through the top to create a little bit more lift. It’s ok if you have the baby hair flyaways too. Spray with L’Oreal Professionnel Tecni.Art Wild Stylers Next Day Hair to encourage them more if you want. Taking the pony, loosely plait the tail and twist it around to form a bun shape. Secure with bobby pins and then give a final spray of Infinium to set the style.
