First Impressions: MAC Next To Nothing Face Colour

Since the moment it became public knowledge that MAC were releasing a new foundation to their lineup, I knew I had to get my hands on it. Let me introduce to you – The Next To Nothing Face Colour, Best described as being A moisturizing tinted cream, that brings out skin’s luminosity for sheer, balmy perfection.

Now I’m a Studio Fix girl through and through so the thought of trying anything “Sheer” often does scare me. This is only because I’m so use to wearing a full face from my days on counter, whenever I go to something lighter in coverage I feel too bare. To my surprise I actually really like Next To Nothing, it took a couple of times playing around with different primers and moisturizers to find what allowed the product to sit best on my skin. but apart from that I don’t really have any complaints.

It definitely has a dewy finish, although the Next To Nothing Powders are amazing for mattifying any shine you don’t like, without leaving the skin caky or dry looking. The face colour as I mentioned above is a sheer finish,so it’s more for evening out your skin tone and to give you a little colour – There’s 9 shades to choose from so your sure to find your match, and so far I haven’t noticed any oxidisation which is a major plus in my books!

Another way to wear this is under your current foundation, it provides a really stunning luminous finish and allows you to have that little bit more coverage if that’s what your trying to achieve.

This obviously makes it perfect for someone who is looking for something lighter to wear daily, but this would also look incredible on someone who has really great smooth skin. (If you exist, I’m extremely jealous!!) When it comes to having this in my kit, I think it will totally be something I reach for a lot. Some of my clients only like a little bit of coverage, or their skin just doesn’t need a lot of correcting, so with the face colour and a little concealer this is going to be great, IMO waaaay better than face and body by the way!

Although this won’t be replacing my trusty Studio Fix in my personal routine, or my kit it will definitely still be sitting within arms reach. Just remember like anything new, it’s good to have a play around and find what works best for you. Some tips I suggest keeping in mind are:

  1. Keep your skin hydrated – Use a mist in the morning and then follow with a tiny bit of moisturizer focusing on areas like the nose and chin before applying the face colour. I use the Mario Badescu Facial Spray and the Clinique Moisture Surge Intense. (layering too many products on top of each other can cause sliding so take note of using only a “small” amount)
  2. Apply the smallest amount of primer if you would like to pro long the products wear, and this also helps to prevent shine in your t-zone if your like me and get a bit shiny! I use the Smashbox Photo Ready Primer
  3. If you would like to apply a powder to the product, just press it gently onto the skin with the flat of your brush. If your too rough or try to buff it too much the product will move and you will be left with a not so even base.

There you have it my first impressions on this product, if you have any other questions please feel free to ask me below –  Keep an eye out for swatches of the Next To Nothing liquids and powders plus also a quick overview of the two brushes available within this range which will be up within the coming days!

*Thank you to MAC for gifting me this stunning PR Package of product, but please note all opinions are my own x
