Grand Mercure Auckland – Review

I find myself in Auckland a lot for business trips, but the one thing I always struggle with is where to stay. A 2 night trip to Auckland can often cost me over $1000 for flights and accommodation alone, and half the time the hotels are never anything super amazing for the price your paying.

On my most recent trip I had the opportunity to work with Grand Mercure, and I have to say this is honestly the BEST place I have ever stayed hotel wise in New Zealand! I was lucky enough to be set up in the Davenport Suite and it was an absolute dream. From the moment I walked in the door of the hotel I was greeted with smiles, check in was a breeze and then I was even escorted personally to my suite.

Walking into my room, I was actually left speechless! From the art work to the ocean views, there was not one thing I could fault upon first glance and that was only the lounge area!! Then i moved onto the bedroom where a massive bed, with an equally massive tv and again ocean views awaited me. I must say the bed was super comfortable, and Grand Mercure had little things like USB ports on the headboard, just to make life that little bit easier.

Here I was already in hotel heaven and then I looked in the bathroom!! Not only did Grand Mercure kindly customize my own robe for me, but this bathroom was simply stunning. From the marble tiling, to the large bath and shower this was actually bathroom goals. The girl behind the counter told me I had to make use of the bath, so of course I totally did that and it was such a nice relaxing way to end my day.

Grand Mercure also have a fantastic gym within their complex, and for ease of dining in they have a couple of  great options along with the traditional room service. I of course ordered in and my only complaint would be that there was too much food haha!! I don’t eat alot so I found the meal quite overwhelming, but any normal person would say it was perfect!

I highly suggest checking out custom lane which sits beside Grand Mercure, they offer a great selection of foods especially in the mornings – they do donuts on selected days! This is also where you will find the bike hire, if you are looking to explore central Auckland that little bit more.

Overall my stay at Grand Mercure was beyond amazing and I’m not just saying that. If you saw my multiple instagram stories you will know for yourself how incredible my room was. From the cleanliness of the room, the details and thought put into making your stay as amazing as possible to the friendly and helpful staff, this is definitely going to become my new place to stay when in Auckland!

The suites especially would be fantastic for a travelling couple, or honeymooners looking to escape to their own wee oasis. I know for sure I will be taking Regan back to Grand Mercure, as he was absolutely gutted he couldn’t make this trip. So there you have it, all the reasons why you need to check out Grand Mercure when your next in Auckland.
